Under a dark shady tree, Caitlin sat thinking about her friends back in Washington. Do they miss me? Will I ever see them again? Will my mom let me get an iPhone to text them, or at least a home phone. Caitlin sighed. She had just moved in to her house in California. It was a cool house, and her mom had a good job, but it was summer and her mom was gone all the time. She didn't even have any friends to invite over. She was lonely, and school started in two months. That is way to long to be bored, she thought.
She got up from her tree and went inside. Her mom let her walk around town as long as she was back for dinner at six o'clock, so she started walking. It took her only five minutes to get to downtown. She walked inside her favorite coffee shop, Starbucks, and bought herself a mocha with sprinkles and no caffeine. She paused on the way out the door. There was a sign that said Help Wanted. She went back up to the counter, and asked if she could get a job. The lady sighed and asked how old Caitlin was and what her name was. She said she w was Caitlin and she was sixteen. The lady sighed again, and handed her a piece of paper. Then she said to bring the application in sometime all filled out. As Caitlin walked away, she heard the lady sigh again.
That night, at the dinner table, she told her mom she wanted to work at Starbucks for the summer. Her mom said sure.
End of chapter one. If anybody wants to give me ideas for chapter two put it in the comments.

Book Reveiw I: Hero 💪
Hero, by Mike Lupica, is about a boy named Zach, who lived in New York City. He loved his dad a lot, but his dad was always on business trips because he worked for the president. One day, his dad went on another trip. His plane crashed on the way back, and he died. Zach didn't know because he was walking home from school, but he felt like something was wrong. A while later, he sneaked to the crash site. When he was there, he found his dad's Morgan (an expensive and lucky coin), and he met this old man who appeared randomly, he talked in riddles, and when he left, Zach chased him, but he just disappeared. He just kept on running and his and his dad's Morgans started glowing and burning, and all of a sudden, he was home. He and his best friend, Kate, figured out that he had super powers! The old man came back and started teaching him how to use his super powers. Zach started having random bad guys show up and try to hurt him, and the last one had him going to the hospital. His mom worked for Senator Kerigain, so he had to go to his speech. He was standing backstage, when he saw a guy with a gun pointed at the future president. Right as the person pulled the trigger, Zach pushed the president down, and the bullet missed him, but he shot another one that missed Zach because the old man appeared out of nowhere and pushed him down. Afterwards, he walked away and found the old man sitting against a tree, but he had been shot. He told him he was his grandfather before he died. In the end, Zach was very confident that he was a good superhero, and that he would fight bad guys. One of the main themes in the book is that you can't trust everybody. An example of how this theme is shown is when Zach looked at his computer screen and it said trust no one. "He was about to answer her when he looked back at his computer screen. It was then he saw the message. "Trust no one"(186). Another reason is that his grandfather never told him he was his grandfather until he died. "Your- your grandson..." Zach knew he was stammering"(280). One last reason is that his uncle John betrayed him. "I know one thing" Zach said . I finally know what the devil looks like. "He's the one you trust and then he betrays you" (288). That is why one of the themes in the book is you can't trust everybody.
I would recommend this book to other 7th grade readers, because it is an awesome book. There are a lot of books out in the world, but this one was really good. Some people like hard books, and some people like easy books. Well, this book is in the middle, so most 7th graders would like it. That is why I would recommend this book to 7th graders.
Mike Lupica has written several other books. Some of them are listed here, Travel Team, Heat, Summer Ball, Miracle on 49th Street, The Big Field, Million Dollar Throw, and Bat Boy. I haven't read any of those, but I might someday. He has written a ton of books.
